On March 8, 2025, International Women’s Day, the Oak Bay Mayor and Council met on Beach Drive to honour Women in Leadership.  A plaque to commemorate and honour the first three women to serve as Mayor of Oak Bay was installed.  The women are:

Frances H. Elford 1970-1973

Susan M. Brice 1986-1990

Diane M. Butler 1991-1996

These women inspired leadership and dedication and paved the way for future generations of female leaders in our community.

The plaque can be found at the intersection of Beach Drive and Windsor Avenue.
